Bunty goes to Haden Hill Park

It's not working today

It's not working today

My next adventure took me to Haden Hill Park. It was very cold and dark but not muddy as there were real paths to hop on. When I first hopped into the park I saw a pond with ducks on, I called to them but they just swam away, I am beginning to think ducks don’t like me! In the middle of the pond is a statue which used to shoot water out of the top and make a little fountain, well that’s what it looked like on the old picture of it. All around the park were little signs with pictures of how it used to look and telling you what it used to be like, I liked these signs very much.

haden hill house, it's bigger than where I live

There’s a big old house which opens in February and you can go in and have a look around, I think I may go back to have a look. There are gardens but no flowers because the weather is too cold and ponds with ducks, (none of which seemed very friendly) and a haunted wood. It wasn’t very scary, I asked the big dog who was playing there if he had ever seen the ghost and he said he had been playing there since he was a pup and had never seen it, and if he did he would chase it away because he was good at chasing things. Well he certainly was scaring the leaves!

Big black clouds started to blow over and I know that they bring rain, I didn’t want to get wet so I headed for home and a nice bowl of carrots.

Bunty Bunny goes to Leasowes

hard water?

hard water?

Hello

I have been on another adventure, this time I went to Leasowes Park. It was a very cold day and the water on the pond had gone hard! I felt so sorry for the ducks; they only had a little patch of water to swim in. I asked one duck what they had done to their water, why had they made it hard, (it seemed a bit silly to me), he laughed and laughed and said the pond had frozen. I had no idea what he meant and just has I was going to ask he flew off. There were lots of dogs playing and running around chasing balls and dragging big sticks, I must say it did look fun. A big dog came running towards me chasing his ball and asked if I wanted to join in the game, I told him I was on an adventure and didn’t really have time. He told me his name was Tex and when he was a pup he used to have adventures, but he was too old now and just liked to play with his ball then go home and sleep until supper time. I asked him about the hard water and he told me that in cold weather water freezes and turns to ice. He was much nicer than the rude duck who just laughed at me. Just then his people called him, so we said good bye and Tex told me to watch for ice on the paths, I wondered what he meant.

I nearly fell down the hole

I nearly fell down the hole

So off I set again past the pond and along a little path with trees on one side and a little stream on the other, there were little puddles of ‘ice’ on the paths and I watched them for a little while but nothing happened, then I came to a little bridge and as I started to cross it I step on a patch of ice and slipped, I nearly fell in the water! So that’s what Tex meant, ice can be slippery.

lunch time

lunch time

By now I was feeling hungry, so I found a nice place to sit and got out my lunch, today I brought along some special bird nuts and seeds as well as my carrot so that I could share. A few ducks swam over and asked what I had for lunch and I told them carrots, but I had nuts and seeds too, so they came and had lunch with me, they enjoyed the nuts and we had a chat about the frozen pond I had seen, I asked them why their pond had not frozen and they told me their water was moving, so it was harder for it to freeze. Then all of a sudden they all got back in the water and started to swim across the pond to the other side where I could see people. That just left me and Bob the Robin, Bob explained that big people often bring bread to feed the ducks and when the weather was cold the ducks had to eat as much as they could. (you can just see Bob above me in this photo). I am glad I am not a duck or have to live outside in the winter.

The new waterfall

The new waterfall

After my lunch I carried on with my hop and had a look at the new waterfall, people are working very hard on the park to make it look like it did in the 18th century, they have rebuilt some of the ponds and streams and are putting in new trees and paths, it will look very nice in the summer.

I am a long way up!

I am a long way up!

The end of my hop took me up a very big hill and when I got to the top I had to sit on a bench, what a clever idea to have a bench on the top, lots of adventurers must need it. I could see for ever such a long way, I could even see Clent Hills.

Then it was time to go home to my nice warm home.

And on this adventure I have learnt what ice is.

Bunty builds a den

hello

At Last

At Last

I think that children must be very clever. I tried to build a den, and it was hard work. First of all I collected up some sticks that the wind had blown off the trees, I put them all in a pile and tried to drag them to where I wanted them but I kept dropping them and they kept getting caught on other things, and tripping me up! So I put them all down and dragged them two at a time until they were all in the right place.

Then I tried to stand them up and they kept falling over, so I tried to lean them on a wall, but when I climbed in they fell down again! Tinkerbelle found all this very funny and after she had stopped laughing, she asked me what I was doing. I told her that I had seen children building a den and that I wanted one.

So she told me how to do it, first of all I had to take the biggest stick and shove it hard into the ground, then lean all the other sticks around the outside starting with the longest ones first and then put the little ones around the outside.

Tinkerbelle said she thought it might be a nice idea to put a carpet of leaves on the floor so that I didn’t get to cold or too wet while I was playing. So we went in search of something nice and dry and found some conifer leaves that had been cut off the trees last year. Tinkerbelle told me that conifers are called evergreens and never ever lose their green leaves so my carpet will stay nice for a long time. (Tinkerbelle is so clever).

Done, do you like my den?

Bunty goes to Cannock Chase

Hello
I enjoyed my last adventure so much; I decided to go on another. I was looking though one of mommy and daddy’s walking magazines and saw this walk at Cannock Chase. It is called the Healthy Heart Walk and it has something to do with some one called the Forestry Commission. It said in the magazine that it was a sculpture trail; I wasn’t sure what a sculpture was but was excited to see.

Look its a big me

Look its a big me

I found the start of the trail and hopped around, no big puddles to hop over this time, but still very muddy, (I will need to clean my boots). All along the trail are the sculptures with little boards to tell you who made them and what they mean and how to look after your heart by eating lots of fruit and vegetables, (which I do), and taking lots of excise, like walking, (which I am starting to do). Some of the sculptures were very big and are there all the time and some are not so big and have been made by children. There was a special place to build a den too, but I couldn’t build one because the sticks were too big, I may try in our garden. The first sculpture I really liked was this one because it looks like me.

I am on daddy's chair

I am on daddy's chair

The next one I really liked was the 3 chairs from Goldilocks I sat on the daddy chair which was the biggest, it was very tall, I had to climb.

There was a secret path hidden in the trees and right at the end was a tree that elves live in, they had their washing hanging out and there were little doors in the side of the tree.

I think I should get a pair

I think I should get a pair

I loved this one, it’s even bigger that daddy’s shoes, it took me a long time to climb to the top and I could see for ever such a long way, I didn’t stay up there long, it was very windy and I got a bit scared.

My legs were very tried by now so I went home, but I had had a lovely day and I found out that a sculpture is something someone has made. I may have a go at making a sculpture myself.

Bunty Bunny goes to Woodgate Valley

Hello,

I can't see a horse

I can't see a horse

Well I have been on my first adventure; I was a little scared as I pulled on my boots and hat. What if I got lost, what if I fell in the water, what if a dog chased me? But then I thought I must be a brave little Bunty, so I set off.

It was very muddy as I hopped down the first track, a sign on the gate said ‘Please don’t feed the horses’ I looked and looked but couldn’t see any anywhere. I was looking forward to having a chat with one about what it was like living in a field in all this nasty weather we have been having. Never mind, I expect I shall meet one soon.

big hops needed

big hops needed

I soon came to the start of the trail, the paths here were very muddy too, I had to do some quite big hops to get over some of them. The trail went down one side of a little stream and up the other and there were big stepping stones to get from one side to the other, and I had to do very, very big hops to get across, and I didn’t fall in. I felt very pleased with myself.

Carrots!! Have you a biscut?

Carrots!! Have you a biscut?

Soon I came to a field full of crows and decided to stop for my dinner, I offered to share my dinner with the crows, but they didn’t want to. They don’t like carrots! Can you believe that? Who doesn’t like carrots? Instead they sat in their tree waiting for something better, what’s better than a nice crunchy carrot?

After a little rest I said good bye to the crows and headed for home, a very tried Bunty, but feeling very pleased with myself, I hadn’t got lost, I hadn’t fell in the water and I hadn’t been chased by a dog.

Keep on hopping

Love Bunty
