Bunty goes bird watching

kingsbury water park part two 069

I can see lots of ducks

I can see lots of ducks

It was a hop back to Kingsbury Water Park but this time I hopped to the bird hides. Bird hides are little huts that you can sit in, they have little windows which you can open and you sit and watch the birds. The birds can’t see you so they don’t get upset at being stared at and even the shy birds are happy. I sat for a long time looking at all the different birds and got quite excited when one bird spread out its wings and stood very still. A man told me it was a cormorant, it was very pretty.

I hopped a few more trails and ended up at a canal, I have never seen a canal before they look exciting with the boats going up and down. The weather wasn’t very nice so I didn’t stay long, but it was nice to see all the birds.

Bunty does some arty stuff

My first trip on a bus

My first trip on a bus

I have been on a very exciting adventure where I saw lots of very unusual things, and I went on a bus for the first time. I liked riding the bus because you could see lot’s of things when you sat on the top.
I went into the city which is called Birmingham. In Birmingham there are lots of big museums and on this trip I visited one called the Gas Hall to see an exhibition, (that’s what they call it when they have things on show) about someone called Matthew Boulton, he lived a very long time ago and was a very clever man. He made things and the exhibition had lots of the things he had made like coins and golden clocks and pretty sliver things. supersonic 001

Then I hopped a very long way to see an installation, (I think installation is just another word for exhibition) by Tatham Osullivan which was very strange, a big tunnel which was all coloured on the outside and all white on the inside and a dark room with some photos of the town being shown on a big screen. I didn’t understand what it all meant, I could have done with a leaflet or some information boards, (I like information boards). Then I hopped to the ikon to look at something called ‘When the scales fall from your eyes.’ I liked this, it was lots of glass bodies, not all of a body, just the bit from the waist to the neck, and they didn’t have any arms. Their heads were scales and they all sat on beds and cupboards looking at a big light on the wall. Everything was white, even the telephone, I read in the little book that the artist, (that’s the people who made it) were trying to make us think about how much we value muchness for muchness sake. I didn’t understand what that meant, but mommy told me it meant that some of the things we think are important are not that important because they are just things.
After that I hopped to Moor street station to see ‘There are no others, there is only us’ I really liked this. I lay on a big bean bag and watched a film of birds flying all together and listened to some lovely music, I almost went to sleep!

Then I had a very long hop to the last thing I wanted to see, and that was ‘The tower of time.’ Lot’s and lot’s of clocks. It was all in a very tall tower and I had to hop up lots of steps that went round and round just like in the old castles I visited. On the first floor was one little clock all on it’s own, then on the next floor there were 10 clocks, then on the next floor 100 clocks and on the last floor 1000 clocks all ticking away.

lots of clocks all going tick tock

Then I had to hop all the way back down again.

I was very hot and tired by this time, so I got back on the bus and went home.

I didn’t understand some of the things I looked at, but I enjoyed it just the same, and big brother said it didn’t matter that I didn’t understand it, I had tried and that’s what counts.

I have put some links on here if you want to read more.

Bunty goes to find Bats

This was exciting, I went to Kingsbury Water Park in the evening to join a bat hop, (sorry there are no photos it was dark). First of all we had tea, lots of people had jacket potatoes, but I didn’t think I would like a potato with a coat on so I had a carrot. Then we went and sat in a room and a very nice man showed us some pictures of bat’s and told us some very interesting facts about them. Then it was time to go and look for them, we all hopped out into the trees and I could hear little chirpy sounds on the bat detector. This is a little machine that picks up the noises that the bats make, because they speak at a very high pitch that no one can hear. The bat detector started to make a lot of noise and the man said look up and there were two little Pipistrelle’s they are the smallest bat’s that we have here in the UK. We then hopped down by the lake, and all the time the Pipistrells’s were flying around above us looking for their tea. We stood looking at the lake and before long we saw two Daubentons flying just above the water, they are the only bats that do this and they catch the bugs with their big feet. Their favourite food is yellow bellied moths, but they can’t eat the wings so they pull them off and drop them on the floor. They always go to the same place to eat, so if you find a pile of wings on the floor, just above you  is where the bat sits to eat his tea. I would have liked to talk to the bat’s but they were very busy looking for their tea and the man said I wouldn’t be able to hear them anyway, but I was just happy to see them, they are very sweet. I like bats. I wish some would come and live with us in our house, mommy wouldn’t mind she said so.

Bunty goes to Kingsbury Water Park

It's nice here

It\’s nice here

On Sunday I went for a hop around Kingsbury Water Park, I didn’t know how big it was so I will need to go back again so that I can hop around the rest of it. It is very pretty and there are lots of pools and trees. I made some really nice friends.

I met a little baby moorhen called Tiny, he had lost his mommy, I was sure she hadn’t gone far, so I sat on the bank and talked to him. We chatted about what he liked best about his pond and he told me he liked playing hide and seek in the trees with his brothers and sisters. It wasn’t to long before his mommy came back, she thanked me for staying with Tiny and keeping him company. Then I carried on with my hop

Have you seen my mommy?

Have you seen my mommy?

After hopping for a little while I came to a big field full of wild flowers and butterflies. Aren’t butterflies funny? It made me laugh the way they never kept still and they talk just as fast as they move around, but the only thing they seem to want to talk about is how pretty they are, so I didn’t stay long.

Do you want to share my lunch?

Do you want to share my lunch?

A bit further on I met Benjamin, he’s a rabbit like me, except he was brown. He was nibbling at the grass and asked me if I cared to join him. So I did, then I shared my carrot with him. We chatted about where he live and he took me to see his burrow, it was quite dark, I told him about where I live and he thought it sound funny. We sat in the sun for a while and he told me about all his brothers and sisters, (he has quite a lot). Then it was time for me to hop some more.

I hopped to a pond and met a Grebe who told me he was good at fishing and just to prove it he dived into the pond and came back up with a fish, I was very impressed, I don’t think I could do.

A little further on I came to another pool where there was a lovely baby swan. I was just about to say hello when his daddy came over and hissed at me to leave his little boy alone! I only wanted to say hello, I think that swan was very rude. I feel sorry for the baby swan, he won’t have many friends if his daddy is always so rude.

This would be naught if it was a real one

There is a miniature railway there too, It wasn’t running when I was there so it was safe for me to sit on the track, but you must never ever walk on the tracks of the really big trains, it’s very dangerous, and you shouldn’t really play on them either, I was a very naughty Bunty. I will not do it again. I was very tried by now, so I went home.
